The history of AKE rolling bearing production dates back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. In a more recent history, the production of bearings in the Austrian towns of Steyr and Berndorf has been gradually integrated into the structures of renowned world manufacturers. However, the production of bearings under the original AKE brand has been preserved to this day.

In 1993, IMET a.s. The company bought AKV-AKE, among other things, with the intention to continue production and sale of AKE bearings. At the same time, it wanted not only to preserve the historically top quality of bearings, but also to work on improving it, working with other renowned bearing manufacturers and their research centers. The results were not long in coming, as reflected in the acceptance of AKE bearings in the aviation industry.

Today, the production and business activities are concentrated in the AKE Skalica s.r.o. It is a former manufacturing company ZVL Skalica. The intention is, besides continuing the production of special and high-precision bearings, to offer and provide complex customer service and to continue the tradition of the brand and the former ZVL Skalica production plant.
